A lot of what we think about water and its consumption is actually sheer guess work. Water plays such an integral part in nearly every biological process in the body, it's a shame we take this life-and-death nutrient for granted. When we lose just a little bit of water through sweat and elimination, and do not replenish the lost liquid, we begin to notice the effects that it makes to our health right away. Let's take a look at the 5 main reasons why we should be having a minimum of 8 glasses every day.
1) Decrease in water intake equals to increased health problems. Your chances of getting kidney stones, urinary and colon cancer, and heart attacks increase if your daily intake of water is not up to the mark.
2) The first sign of dehydration is fatigue. When the body begins to dehydrate, it normally means the tissues are not getting enough water to make a person feel energetic. This, coupled with a headache, can disrupt your normal everyday activities.
3) If you're not drinking enough water, you do not have enough liquid to help with the elimination process, and without eliminating the foods we digest we not only gain weight, but also gain toxins. Being constipated is the beginning to many a health problems, starting from allergies to digestive disorders.
4) You also tend to eat more and gain weight. A 2010 research by the Institute for Public Health and Water Research found that those who drank almost "10 glasses of water before each meal consumed 75 to 90 fewer calories while eating." This seems legit because when you are drinking enough water, you are also feeding the cells and tissues in your body that gets the enzymatic system moving, which actually releases fat toxins out of the body.
5) You look more wrinkled and aged. Many studies have proven that water makes skin firm, fills in fine lines and wrinkles and brightens an uneven complexion.
