Kristina Akheeva, who made her debut in Gaalipatam, had a narrow escape in Kashmir few days ago, when she was trekking at Lidderwat, near Pahalgam. "I always wanted to go to the Himalayas and experience a new culture. But, when I went to trek from Pahalgam to Lidderwat in late August, I was stuck in the rains for almost three days. My guide warned me that if I cross the river, I might be in trouble and even get stranded. So. I had to cut short my trip and come back to Bangalore," Kristina recalls.
Two days after she flew back from Kashmir, the entire region witnessed heavy rains, which resulted in loss of several lives. "I have been following the news ever since I came back and it's quite tragic. My prayers are with all the people who are facing this disaster," she says, adding that it's quite scary to even think about what's happening in Kashmir. "Thank god I listened to my guide and the Sherpa, who were only two others who were trekking along with me. If not for their timely advice, I would still have been stuck there," she says.
