After making her debut in Neelakanta's Maaya, Avantika Mishra is all set for a makeover in her next film, Kerintha. She's playing the role of a NRI girl, who comes to India to study. "I signed the film even before Maaya was released and I'm excited about how it's shaping up. I got quite a few offers when I was modeling; however, I wasn't in a rush to sign films," says Avantika.
Ask her if she had dreamt about acting in films and pat comes the reply, "Honestly, I wanted to be a journalist and travel all over the world; however, my parents weren't sure if I would be able to handle it. My father is an officer in the Indian Air Force and I had a nomadic childhood. We lived in Delhi, UP, Punjab, Bhutan and even Japan for a few years, before I moved to Bangalore to study. And then a friend of mine encouraged me to take up modeling and that led me to films."
Interestingly, she had played the role of a journalist in her debut film, although the response to her performance wasn't quite encouraging. "I take criticism positively and all said and done, acting in Maaya was a great learning experience.
I still have a long way to go and I'm sure I will improve with each project," Avantika signs off.
