We are not trying to pre-sell the film. But Prabhas who plays the title character in Rajamouli’s Baahubali is said to have a huge following in China. And guess what, Prabhas tattoos are said to be the latest rage among his Chinese fans.
Well, it all started with the release of the posters of Baahubali in China. Director of Baahubali, SS Rajamouli had earlier screened his Eega at a couple of Chinese film festivals and was thrilled with the response to the movie. So, he decided to have a Chinese release for Baahubali as well. But even he might not have anticipated the response to Prabhas and this phenomenon has completely changed the dynamics of the business of Baahubali in China.
Rajamouli is now believed to be in discussions with top Chinese distribution firms for releasing Baahubali on a grand scale in the ‘land of the dragon’. Starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Sesh Adivi in the lead roles, the movie is a period drama set in 8th century BC. Apart from Chinese, the movie will be releasing in 13 other languages as well. Being made with a budget of around Rs 150 crore, Baahubali is easily the costliest movie ever in the history of Tollywood.
Like Rajinikanth who is a rage in Japan, now Prabhas is a rage in China and if the film becomes a hit internationally, Prabhas can take credit for putting Tollywood on the international map.
