The Ajay Devgn produced Parched hit the headlines after leakage of Radhika Apte's couple of intimate sequences in the film which was screened at several International film festivals. The drama film written and directed by Leena Yadav released yesterday mostly to positive response. There were reports that, few steamy sequences in the film were removed before the film went for censor as for smooth release. But, the fact is the Censor Board of Film Certification has given nod for a lovemaking scene showing Tannishtha Chatterjee embracing Radhika Apte intimately, glimpses of which we witnessed in trailer.
In fact, censor officials didn't object even for a single shot and suggested no cuts. Director Leena Yadav says that she wouldn't have allowed the film's release in India, if these sequences were removed."It's a moment that defines the emotional, rather than the physical context of the two characters' friendship. There's nothing titillating or sensational in the scene," feels CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani. The film Parched revolves around four women living an unwanted life in a village of Rajasthan in north-western region of India, which still suffers from old, age-ridiculed traditions like forced child marriages and other social issues like financial difficulties, spousal, familial rape, and physically and emotionally abusive alcoholic husbands.
