At least 30 people were killed and several injured after a suicide bomber blew himself up at a football match in a village near Iskandariyah city south of Baghdad yesterday. "They were just handing the trophy to the winners when the suicide attacker blew himself up in the crowd," the Express Tribune quoted a police captain as saying to the media.
According to reports, a medic at Iskandariyah hospital confirmed the toll. The mayor of the town is also said to be killed among others in the explosion. The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
