Kalyanotsavam of Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Bhramaramba Devi will be performed at the Srisailam temple at 12 noon on Monday of the occasion of Maha Shivaratri festival. Lingodbhava Rudrabhishekam will be performed at 10 a.m. The festivities will commence with Prabha utsavam at 5 a.m., Nandi vahana seva at 7 a.m. and pagalamkaram at 10.30 a.m., temple Executive Officer K.V. Sagar Babu said on Sunday.
Rathotsavam would be performed on March 8, dhwajarohan on March 9 and Aswa Vahana seva, Pushpolsavam, Sayanotsavam and Ekanta Seva on March 10, Mr. Sagar Babu said. Ongole Prakasam Staff Reporter adds: Bhairavakona, the abode of the Trimukadurga sametha Bhairaveshwara has been spruced up for celebrating the Maha Sivaratri in a big way. The historic temple at Kothapalli-Ambavaram villages, near Chandrasekarapuram in Prakasam district and bordering Nellore and Kadapa districts, is an archaeologists' delight with numerous rock cut temples chiselled in the 7th century A.D by expert sculptors.
Protected monument:- The temple, a protected monument of the Archaeological Survey of India, is visited by tens of thousands of pilgrims every year as Lord Bhairava, a fiery form of Lord Siva, acts as Kshetrapalaka. In the temple situated in the thick Nallamala forest range, pilgrims enjoy the waterfalls and the scenic beauty before offering worship to Lord Siva who appears in eight forms, Shashikala, Rudra, Visweswara, Nagarik Eswara, Bhargeswara, Rameswara, Mallikarjuna and Pakshalika Linga Temple priest K.Venkata Narasaiah said all arrangements had been put in place for celebrating the festival in a befitting manner.
