The TDP high command is planning to appoint new presidents for eight districts in the State. In the wake of MLAs and MLCs holding two posts in these districts, the party high command had decided to appoint new TDP chiefs to strengthen the party at grassroots level. It is learnt that TDP chief and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu thought over the issue and held discussions with the party leaders.
The Chief Minister was also disappointed with these leaders as they are unable to lead the cadre and conduct meetings in their respective districts. With this new move, the party high command is going to confine them only to legislative posts and will appoint new district presidents. Some of the leaders who are enjoying two posts are Vizag Urban district president Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar (MLA and district president) and D Jagadish of Vizianagaram (MLC and district president).
Similarly, G Srinivasulu (Chittoor), K Chakrapani Reddy( Kurnool), Beeda Ravichandra Yadav (Nellore) and Buddha Venkanna (Vijayawada Urban) are holding both MLC and district president posts. In Anantapur, K Parthasarathi and in Ongole, Janartha are enjoying both MLA and district president posts.
According to sources, Tumula Bhaskara Rao is in the race for Vizianagaram TDP chief post, as he has been working relentlessly for the development of party for the last two decades. It is learnt that he is in the good books of Union Minister P Ashoka Gajapathiraju and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. When contacted Bhaskara Rao said, “I am pinning my hopes on becoming Vizianagaram TDP district president.” However, he said that the final decision rests with the Chief Minister. Nalluri Bhaskara Rao, Zahir Ahmed and SA Rehman are in the race for Vizag urban TDP chief post.
