A 29-year-old former air hostess was allegedly murdered by her husband at their flat in Ramanthapur on Sunday night. The victim, Ritu Uppal, was the wife of one Sachin Uppal, owner of an electrical appliances store at Koti. The couple had married 18 months ago and has a five-month-old son."On Sunday night, the couple had an altercation over some family issues. During the argument, Sachin hit his wife. She suffered an injury on the head after hitting the floor and became unconscious," Uppal inspector Y Narasimha Reddy said.
After Ritu became unconscious, Sachin called up his in-laws who were in town visiting their two daughters. Ritu's parents are from Jamshedpur. "When the incident took place, Ritu's parents were at her sister's place in Uppal. They immediately reached her flat and shifted her to a nearby hospital. Ritu was declared brought dead by doctors," Reddy added.
Ritu's mother Ujala Sareen lodged a complaint with police alleging that Sachin had been harassing them for dowry and killed her daughter for not meeting his demands. "There was a minor injury on the victim's face, but the exact cause of death could be ascertained only after post-mortem. The viscera of the victim would be sent to FSL for analysis," the inspector said. Uppal police registered a case against Sachin under sections 302 ( murder) and 304-B (dowry death) of IPC and took Sachin into custody.
