A huge fire has broken out in a hotel in Dubai ahead of tonight's New Year's Eve celebrations. Pictures have emerged on Twitter showing The Address Downtown Dubai hotel engulfed in flames.
The blaze began on the 20th floor hours before a large fireworks display was set to start from the nearby Burj Khalifa tower, the world's largest building.
Emergency services are on the scene.
No one appears to have been hurt.
The flames can be seen reaching from the ground floor right to the top of the building.
The hotel tweeted: "A fire has been reported in the Address Downtown hotel.
"Authorities are currently on-site to address the incident swiftly and safely #Dubai."
Burning debris rained down from the building as fire trucks raced to the scene.
The building that hosts the 5-star hotel is 302 metres tall.
Eyewitness John Dalziel said he had been told that the fire started on one of the hotel's balconies.
Another, Katy Bow, wrote on Twitter: "Oh my god - fire at the Address hotel, Downtown Dubai.
"Hope everyone is safe, it's so busy out there."
