YSRCP state president and Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy is all set to join the TRS along with Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateswarlu on May 4 in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad. Reddy announced that he was leaving YSRCP as he was discontented with party supremo Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's stand against Telangana's irrigation projects.
He faulted Jagan's decision to take deeksha against Telangana's irrigation projects despite no loss to people in Andhra Pradesh. He said Jagan did not consider Telangana party leaders' opinions and took the decision in favour of Andhra Pradesh. "Being a son of Telangana I cannot support Jagan's decision against Telangana people and decided to leave the party and join TRS," he said.
Srinivasa Reddy also said that he is attracted by K Chandrasekhar Rao's vision on irrigation projects and commitment to provide water to the whole of Telangana. Srinivasa Reddy however pointed out that Jagan and his family members treated him as a family member and he had no disputes with him. "We are changing the party only to protect the benefits of Telangana people," he said.
He added that IT minister KTR personally came to his house in Khammam to invite him and join the TRS. MLA Payam Venkateswarlu and other party leaders and workers participated in the meeting.
Telangana IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, who visited MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy's house to welcome him into the TRS said that the party has become powerful in the district with the joining of Srinivasa Reddy and his followers. He added YSRCP has already vanished in Telangana and very soon TDP would meet the same fate.
