In the aftermath of cyclone Hudhud, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to people to upload photos showing devastation to the government website based on which rescue and relief operations will be carried out. But collapse of network and communication facilities has become a curse to those who wanted to send pictures. Apart from communication failure, lack of power also added to the woes. Because of this the response was very meager with only 70 photos being uploaded to the website on the first day.
The districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam have been badly affected with power, communication and network failures because of which it was not even possible to make a phone ca ll. In spite of all the hardships few enthusiastic people uploaded pictures to CM's facebook page and the government's website. The state government said that it will geotag the pictures to locate them and estimate the total loss done by the cyclone. With the restoration of facilities, the number of photos received by the website will increase substantially.
