Bollywood star Salman Khan broke down in the court hall after he was acquitted from all charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case. Justice AR Joshi read the verdict in the presence of Salman Khan - 'Prosecution failed to proved charges against Khan on all counts'.
In his statement to the court, Salman Khan told he was neither drunk nor driving his Toyota Land Cruiser when it ran over five people sleeping on the pavement on September 28th, 2002. He said both he and singer Kamal Khan had gone to Rain bar after dinner. Salman told the court his driver Altaf was driving the car and he sat beside him, whereas Ravindra Patil (cop appointed as his bodyguard) and the singer were in the back seat. The actor said he only had drank water in the bar.
From Rain Bar, Salman & Co., went to a new bar at Hotel JW Marriot. It then Driver Altaf said to Salman that he wasn't feeling well and want to leave. Another Driver Ashok was asked to reach Marriot to drive the vehicle. Salman alleges breath analyzer and the procedure for examination of his blood were faulty.
A while ago, Salman tweeted, "I accept the decision of the judiciary with humility. I thank my family, friends & fans for their support & prayers".
