Chief Election Commission has formally given its approval to increase the seats both in Assembly and Council in two states. Telangana Legislative Council got additional 3 Seats due to wrong calculation at the time of the division.
As per the division, AP could get 53 Seats in Legislative Council and Telangana get 37 MLC seats. Some of the Telangana leaders have played key role in dividing Council Seats into 50 (AP) and 40 (Telangana). Media has brought this to CEC attention that forced CEC to concentrate to rectify the mistake.
CEC is believed that the increasing of MLC seats is only way to overcome the political loss in AP. The state Government has also passed the resolution in Assembly for increasing the MLC seats to 58. Chief Election Commission would conduct meeting with two Secretaries of the Assembly on Monday in this regard. As per the assumption, AP would get 225 Assembly Segments and Telangana get 153 Segments in Assembly.
The number of Legislative Council in two states is also increased from existing 50 to 58 in AP and 40 to 50 in Telangana. EC also decided not to held election for additional MLC if his/her tenure comes to an end.
