A techie woman working in IBM was strangled to death by a man she befriended on social media three months back. Ms Singla had invited him home on Tuesday but as soon as he met her he demanded money from her, said Bangaluru police. According to police, Sukhbir Singh had asked for Rs. 50,000 and later was ready to settle for 5,000. But when she refused to pay, the two had a fight and Sukhbir strangled her with the cord of a laptop in a fit of rage. The murderer left the flat at about 3.15 pm, taking away the victim's ATM cards and cheque books.
The body of Kusum Singla, 31, was found dead in her flat in south-east Bengaluru by her flatmate after she returned from work at 7:30 pm. Kusum Singla was from Punjab and was transferred by her company to Bengaluru from Noida in August last year. Sukhbir was arrested from Haryana early this morning, said senior Bangalore police officer P Harisekaran. We tracked him through the social media, since CCTV footage from the building was not too clear, added the officer. Singh has been charged with murder, and the Kadugodi police are investigating the case further.
