A man from Muddenahalli village near Bengaluru claims that he is the reincarnation of Sathya Sai baba of Puttaparthi in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. Some followers of Sai baba who believe that he is the true reincarnation of the god man have organised a grand birthday bash of Sathya Sai baba on November 24, which is his 90th birth anniversary.
Sathya Sai baba also known as Puttaparthi Saibaba “India's first international guru” died in 2011. He did not appoint anybody as his successor. Now, Madhusudhan Naidu of Muddenahalli claims that he is the successor of Sai baba. He even claims that all his actions are guided by Sathya Sai baba who visits him in his dream. He has told the local newspapers that Sai baba himself has asked him to organise a massive birthday celebration.
The Sathya Saibaba trust at Puttaparthi dismisses these claims saying that Madhusudhan Naidu is not the reincarnation of Saibaba and he has nothing to do with the world famous godman. The trustees have said that it is an attempt by some people in Karnataka to diminish the spiritual importance of Puttaparthi. After Saibaba's death in 2011, Puttaparthi has lost its charm and attractions. Earlier 25,000-30,000 foreign devotees and several lakh Indian devotees used to visit Saibaba ashram at Puttaparthi. After his death the numbers have come down drastically.
Now, not more than 3000-4000 foreign devotees and a few thousand Indians visit the Ashram these years. A trust comprising some close aides of Saibaba is now running the activities. According to reports, Saibaba trust has a fixed deposit of Rs 1500 crore in banks and it is earning an annual interest of Rs 120 crore. It also receives donations worth over Rs 60 crore a year. This is not the first time that somebody has claimed that he is the reincarnation of Saibaba.
A person who knows Madhusudhan Naidu says:
“After reading his experiences, I became curious to find out more about Madhusudhan. He has received two gold medals from Swami for standing first in the University in B.Sc(Hons.) and MBA in Marketing and Finance from Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam campus. I was able to discover a few more things about his background and his tremendous faith and dedication to Swami. Madhusudhan is not only a good speaker but a brilliant artist as well. He was given this unique opportunity by Swami to paint the portraits of Mother Easwaramma and the father Sri Pedda Venkappa Raju. Even though there were some inconsistencies in the portraits of his parents, Swami was very hearty in approbation “Poor boy, he has not seen them so he found it difficult to paint.” Swami then decided to pose with the portraits and blessed Madhusudhan profusely.
