Security was beefed up at Central railway station after a bomb threat call on Thursday. Bomb detection and disposal squad checked the station and declared it a hoax.
A resident from Zam Bazaar alerted police that he got an anonymous call that bombs were placed at Central railway station.
Sridharan, 24, told police that he received the call from the number 000508627536. The Police Control room received another bomb threat call which said explosives were placed at a polytechnic college in Thiruvottiyur. BDDS teams and police conducted searches and found that it was also a hoax. The city police have received more than six such calls since Monday, including one by a school student who said bombs were planted at two schools in the city.
