The much-awaited iOS 8 will be available for download in India after 10:30 pm tonight. The update will pack in a plethora of exciting features and bug fixes. So to make your update successful and hassle free, here are certain things you should do.
Back Up Your iDevice (Even On iTunes)
First things first: before any update, it's highly recommended to back up your stuff. There are a lot of chances your data can be lost. No matter if you have an iPhone or an iPad, you should have back up on both iCloud and iTunes. iTunes back-up is advised because it provides the option to create a local backup on your Mac or PC. To start an iTunes back up, just go to your device page in iTunes and click the backup button. For iCloud back up, go to Settings > iCloud >Storage and Backup and tap "Back Up Now".
Free Up Some Space On The Device
We bet you don't want your device saying 'out of space' in the midst of the update. It's very annoying! So play it safe and free some space by deleting iMessages, photos, songs and other irrelevant stuff. Also, the useless stuff not only eats up hard storage space, but also the space on iCloud without any notifications.
Delete Unwanted Apps
The iTunes' built-in app organizer helps you manually clear out unused apps. Sort out from hundreds of apps that have piled up on your home screen and hold no relevance whatsoever. This makes for some much needed space for the apps that are bound to arrive with the iOS 8.
Finally, The iOS 8 Update
The above mentioned things are more than enough to ensure a hassle-free upgrade. But if your phone still acts up, try restoring it. That will fix the issues left unresolved by deleting apps and clearing storage space.
