Micromax subsidiary Yu is putting up for sale 10,000 units of its first smartphone called Yureka today on Amazon at a price point of will be priced at Rs 8,999. Yu had unveiled the device last month.
The Yureka smartphone will be available for sale to pre-registered users from from 2pm onwards today on Amazon.in. Pre-registration of the device was held between 19th and 24th December’14 on Amazon.in.
As there was an unprecedented response and total number of registrations far exceeds the first stock of units available for sale, Amazon India has put in place several processes for the flash sale including letting customers know the percentage of the total stock claimed at any point in time and activating the ‘Waitlist’ feature via their desktops to enable customers to join the waitlist and get an opportunity to buy a Yureka should any of the initial customers not buy the phone in the stipulated time period, etc.
These processes have been placed to ensure that maximum number of users get a chance to buy the phone and have a seamless, transparent and smooth purchase experience, Amazon said in a press note.
“We saw unprecedented response with over three lakh registrations. Registrations were to be open till December 25. However, owing to the mega response they had to be closed a day earlier,” Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma told PTI.
Specifications: Yureka is a 4G device, which features Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octacore processor and 64-bit multi-core CPU, 5.5-inch HD IPS display, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, 12.5GB memory (for apps and mass storage and expandable up to 32 GB), 13MP rear and 5MP front camera and 2,500 mAh battery.
