2014 saw some of the most awaited gadget launches. From the silent one day sale of Google Glass, to the pompous unveiling of the iPhone 6 and Samsung Note 4, the geeks had their platter full. Here are the top 15 best gadgets which were pretty big in India.
1. iPhone 6
iPhone 6 was hands down one of the most anticipated and talked about gadget of 2014. Although its arrival was dented by the finicky iOS 8, the iPhone 6 still took the internet by a storm. Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were a big hit across the globe.
2. Nexus 6
Following the launch of iPhone 6, Google launched its much-praised Nexus series successor, Nexus 6. The Motorola made phone packs in a massive 5.96 inch display and is powered by a Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450.
3. Lenovo Yoga 8 Tablet
Probably the best line of gadgets out of Lenovo’s stable this year, Lenovo Yoga tablets outdid most of its peers. The best out of all was the Lenovo Yoga 8 tablet. Powered by a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 the tab packs in 5 MP rear snapper and an 8 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 15M colors.
4. Moto G
The best budget smartphone to come this year, Moto G witnessed wipe-out sales. Motorola has packed the phone with the best in class specs and features. The Moto G gen 2 was an equal hit as well.
5. Google Glass
The ‘forever in making’ Google finally made its developers launch earlier this year. After that the Glass was also put on retail for one day. While its official launch is still awaited, the glass is straight out of a sci-fi flick.
6. Samsung HU8550 4K UHD Series TV
Debuted at CES 2014 earlier this year, this is one hell of a television. Available from 50-80 inch, the HU8550 delivers as real imagery that a 4K 3D television can actually do.
7. Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Samsung yet again decided to stand shoulder to shoulder with Apple by launching the Galaxy Note S4. The phone was well anticipate and was equally well received by the Samsung fans. The phone packs in a massive 5.7 inch Super AMOLED screen with 1440 x 2560 pixels and 15 million colors.
8. Sony PlayStation 4
Arguably the best gaming console, PS4 packs in everything that the gamers ever wanted. The PS4 system is centered around a powerful custom chip that contains eight x86-64 cores and a state of the art 1.84 TFLOPS graphics processor with 8 GB of ultra-fast GDDR5 unified system memory.
9. Apple iPad Air 2
The Air 2 is a baffling 18 per cent thinner than the original iPad Air. Plus, surprisingly the screen size retains the same size. The Air 2 has also taken a big leap with a 64-bit A8X chip and the M8 motion coprocessor.
10. Motorola Moto 360
Moto 360 changed the way we thought about smartwatches. Treading away from the monotonous square dials, the Moto 360 sports a brilliant classic circular touchscreen dial. Throw in a sleek leather strap (with the option of metal ones) and the watch is nothing less of a stunner. Nifty features like a heart-rate sensor and wireless charging dock makes are other add-ons.
11. Amazon Kindle 7th generation
The added advantage of a touchscreen makes the experience of turning pages and typing in text easier and more streamlined. The machine also packs in new softwares like Kindle FreeTime, Vocabulary Builder and Goodreads integration. It even 20 per cent faster than its predecessor.
12. Google Chromecast
Arrived earlier this month on the Indian shores, chromecast is a huge hit in the United States. At Rs 2,999, the Chromecast is one of the most affordable ways to bring online multimedia to your TV screen. It connects with smartphones, tablets and PCs to stream online content to TVs.
13. Sony RX 100 III Point And Shoot Camera
CyberShot RX100 III, the latest iteration of its top-end point and shoot camera features as wide angle Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 24-70 mm F1.8-2.8 lens, 20.1MP sensor and Bionz X processor. The camera packs in faster lens, offers excellent image quality packed in a pretty sleek metal body.
14. Pebble Steel smartwatch
One of the true stars of CES 2014, the Pebble Steel second generation smartwatch has been hailed as one the year's first exciting releases ahead of its January 28th launch.
15. Xiaomi Mi 3
Sadly, Xiaomi has been barred from selling its phones in India but the Mi3 was one hell of a smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer.
