The 65th National Film Awards have been announced just a while ago by the jury headed by renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. This time, domination of regional films has been clearly observed with non-Bollywood films winning maximum awards.
Shekhar Kapoor said he’s surprised by the Standard of regional cinema in India adding Hindi films try too hard to be everything, but they can’t compete with the regional films. Rajamouli’s masterwork Baahubali 2 grabbed good number of awards.
Baahubali won awards in three categories such as- Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Special Effects and Best Action Direction (Abbas Ali Moghul). Ghazi starring Rana Daggubati gets the Best Telugu film award.
Sridevi gets best Actress Award retrospectively for Mom, whereas Riddhi Sen receives the Best Actor (Male) award for Bengali film Nagarkirtan. Late actor Vinod Khanna has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
