As the controversy around pacer Mohammed Shami is getting murkier by the day, former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has broken his silence over the issue. MS Dhoni, under whom Shami had made his debut, has come out in the support of the pacer and said that “he can not cheat his wife”.
While speaking to a leading daily, Dhoni said, “As much I know Shami is a great human being and he can't cheat his wife and country, it is Shami's personal life and we should not comment on it."
Earlier, while speaking to media, Mohammed Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan had said, “If Md. Shami can cheat me then he can cheat the county as well. He accepted money from a Pakistani girl named Alisbah in Dubai. He agreed to accept it after the insistence of England-based Mohammed Bhai. I have proof.”
On March 9, Jahan filed a police complaint against the cricketer and his familyunder Section 498A (cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives), Section 307 (attempt to murder), Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), Section 376 (rape), Section 506, (criminal intimidation), Section 328 and Section 34.
Mohammad Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan accused him of mental and physical assault and having extramarital affairs. The bowler’s wife had posted screenshots of Shami’s alleged chats with various women. She had also posted a series of pictures of Shami along with his alleged girlfriends.
